I heart DDR. Yesterday my sister and I played almost everysong on my DDR extreme 2. It was pretty fun.. even though she didn't give me a chance to switch off of heavy when there was a really hard song. It give you a great cardio workout.. well.. i guess only when you do hard songs. I think I might even like playing DDr more than running!

I hope this group is active enough to keep me motivated! I've been playing for years and just joined on a whim. I used to play religiously at home (we have two cobalt flux pads and the Japanese and American versions of the last couple versions of the game on PS2), but only recently got back to the point where i'll drag out the mats and play, never mind for daily exercise. I can't even do the same Oni/Heavy versions of the song that I used to be able to ace! It's embarrassing, telling friends of mine that I can beat a song and then can barely get past 10 steps. Going back to the arcade is just the worst, since playing on the cobalts for so long has sort of spoiled me. They're more sensitive than the pads at the arcade that have been stomped on and abused, so I've stopped stepping as hard as I need to to set off the keys.

Gah, help me get back on track, folks. Please! *bows*

I play DDR Max 2. I like playing on either workout mode or endless mode. The reason I like those is that they both feed my slight OCD. LOL. Workout mode lets me see graphs of my progress (both number of calories burned and weight). Endless mode gives me the opportunity to try and get as many steps as I can without missing. My record is 1338.

I suppose I should branch out and try some other versions of DDR. But this is good for now.

Subject:DDR Pad Help!!
Posted by:feymei_shin.
Time:1:26 am.
Hi! I'm not new to DDR.

But I am new to buying a new pad. I bought the very first US DDR when it came here on PS1. Now, the pads I had were crap. I need real pads.

I went to redoctane.com (or redoctane.org, I forget), and I saw the metal and ignition pads. Now I've heard mixed opinions on their pads. What matters to ME is DURABILITY. Will these things last? I don't mind spending the money just as long as I get it and it LASTS. I'm trying to seriously get back into DDR, as it's fun and I need to get exercising again.

Which is better? Any advice or contrast/comparison would help. ^_^

I was a big-time DDR player a year ago. I lost 20 pounds and felt great. I've since stopped working out and not been eating as healthy and have consequently ballooned right back up where I started and then some.

I'm climbin' back on the DDR wagon, though. I play DDR MAX 2 on light mode.

Let's see how many months of DDR it'll take for me to lose 20 pounds.

btw, I'll just put it out there that I'm a 5' 5" female who as of today weighs 184 pounds. yikes!

oh, and I saw this article today. I wish all those kids luck in getting healthier, too.

oh RIGHT ON. i think i just found the shot in the arm that will make working out with DDR alot more fun...

for those of you who aren't familiar with it, there's an open-source version of DDR called StepMania, with versions for Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux. if you can pick up a PS2 to USB adapter (i found one at microcenter that works very well, and for $10), you can use your dance mat to play.

it had been awhile since i'd fiddled with it, but i found a link on their site to a program called Dancing Monkeys. this program will scan through an MP3, create a truncated DDR appropriate version, and auto-generate the steps. all of this is compatible with StepMania... i know, because i just danced to Ministry's "Thieves".

Anyone know where I can find a good calorie counter? I want one that already lists the amount of calories in food. I don't want to have to put it in myself because I'm lazy ;\

Hey my name is Kristina, I have had my pad for a while I love the game and songs and The greatest thing about it is you can play a video game and get healthy all in one. Me and my friend have just started to use it as excises, since she just got her self a pad because it's way better then the frigen gym which I pay monthly but a little of both works.Today I whent to they gym for 20min then decided to come home and play DDR with a cold so now my lungs hurt from dancing and singing along with the songs.

i just started getting into ddr as a means to get in shape.
ive been struggling with coe disorder for about 9 years now and in the past month something in me finally let me start letting go of it.
so with that, im trying to start exercising a lot. i never did before because it was such a bore. so i thought "hey ddr! i heard crazy stuff about that" and with having the attention span of a 5 year old bright flashy colors and noise= great stuff!
im geting used to it though its sorta embarrassing seeing myself reflected in the tv once in a while, im big and fat and uncoordinated like whoa.

anyways, cant wait to chat it up with some people and whatnot and goodluck with anyone else facing weight loss challenges.

Hey everyone, I'm Cliff. I've been a fan of DDR for about 4 years now, but never had the funds or the time to play DDR as a form of exercise. However, around tuesday or wednesday I should be recieving the pads, and I plan on taking full advantage of them

Has anyone else found "Mission Mode" on DDR Extreme?
I wasn't sure what to expect and found myself in more of a workout than I anticipated. I had already played the songs I was going to play, then noticed I unlocked it...

Up until a week or two ago, I hadn't been playing as regularly as I had been before. I'm trying to only miss a day or two a week now, and play almost every day, even if only for 3 songs... I can't wait until my schedule allows for a good half hour to an hour every day again...

I'm noticing that the more times I do DDR, the more energy I have. When I don't do DDR I have no energy.

After doing a few DDR songs I have more energy to do things.

I like it.

I ♥ ddr!

My husband and I play it all the time. In fact, we've got it fired up and will be doing it in a few seconds. I can't wait.

I would like to know, has anyone here lost weight doing ddr?

I already know about the ddr people who've lost weight website, but I'm just wondering about LJ'ers in this comm.
